WHY SHOULD I NOT IGNORE THE PAIN AND HOPE IT WILL GO AWAY

Pain is one of the most basic symptoms indicating that something is wrong somewhere in the body. Diseases originating in the female organs will usually cause pain in the lower part of the tummy (below the belly button)

The most important causes for lower abdominal pain are:

(i) Problems in the ovaries. (Cysts , adhesions )

(ii) Fallopian tubes (infections, adhesions)

(iii) Bladder and kidney pipes( infections, kidney stones)

(iv) Womb

(v) Appendics

(vi) Intestines

This is not a medical text book and it beyond the scope of this page to give a detailed discription of all types of pain. We will guidance as to how to observe and explain the pain. This will also assist your medical practioner in making a diagnosis.

The following observasions are important

Did it start suddenly (acute) or did it devolope over time (chromic)? Is it effected by sexual intercourse?

Is it stationary or refered to other parts ( back or thighs)?

When was the last menstrual period?

Is this the first attack ?

If it is a repeat attack , is it in any way related to menstruations ?

Is it causing nausea and or vomitting?

The Diseases That Are Common Causes Of Abdominal Pain

Salingitis

This common disease will be dicussed in more detail on a other page.

Bactria attacks the Fallopian tubes causing damage, swelling and pain. If not treated promptly it can lead to infertility. It can also cause internal abcesses. It can also be complicated by two very serious and potensially lethal conditions namely septic shock and peritonitis .

Never ignore pain.

Ovarian Cysts.

This condition is also discussed elsewhere . Polycystic ovaries (also discussed elsewhere .

This cysts streches the ovary and causes pain. It is usually a continuous nagging pain that spread into the inner parts of the thigh ( upper leg) It is also associated with pain during intercourse.

Endometriosis

This disease is also discussed in more detail elsewhere. This is chronic progressive disease effecting the quality of sufferer's life. It is very important to diagnose and start treating it early. It is associated with pain, painfull sexual intercourse , digestive problems and infertility.

Ovulation Pain

It is a pain that occurs at the time of ovulation ( usually fourteen days before a period). It usually lasts only for a few hours. The process of ovulation is discussed elsewhere. Studying the process of ovulation and taking into consideration that testis in the male and the ovary in the female have the same nerve endings, it is understandable that ovulation can be painfull. Although it is a so called normal pain , it is important to exclude diseses like endometriosis and polycystic ovaries. Analgesics ( pain killers) and anti inflammatory drugs are usually very effective in treating the pain.

THE MOST IMPORTANT OF THEM ALL NEVER IGNORES PAIN. IT MUST BE INVESTIGATED.
